The Department of Nursing Science’s Pledge of Service Ceremony was held on Wednesday, 30th January 2013, at the South Campus Auditorium, where 34 final year Nursing students took the Florence Nightingale pledge. The Pledge of Service Ceremony has been a tradition where final year Nursing students take an oath to always put the needs of their patients first.

The evening was enjoyed by more than 200 friends and families of the students who took the pledge. This prestigious event was attended by the Vice Chancellor of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Prof D Swartz, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof P Naudé, Executive Dean, Prof V Exner and the Director of Clinical Care Sciences, Prof D van Rooyen. The evening’s entertainment was provided by one of Nursing’s very own fourth year students and student representative on BCured News, Ms K Nelson and soloist, Ms C Strydom from Centre Stage.
