Change the world

The Department of Nursing Science had its very own nursing students and faculty members visited St. Benedict College, St Johns College and St Cloud State University for a short-term exchange programme from the 15th January until the 8th February 2013. The delegation included four BCur 3rd year students, namely Angelique Van Eeden, Tamsin Verheij, Romanda Pesencie and Cwayita Jali, and two of the departmental lecturers, Ms N Rall and Ms K Gerber.

Staff and students from NMMU Department of Nursing Science have been visiting the USA since 1998. The students and faculty members get the opportunity to attend classes, obtain clinical exposure and enjoy the cultural activities in the area of Minneapolis. This allows students to gain international perspectives as they are exposed to the different campuses.

While visiting Minneapolis this year, the temperature dropped to below freezing point, the lowest in the past four years and the coldest they have ever experienced. The students and faculty members had the opportunity to take part in various activities such as rock climbing, ice fishing, ice skating, visiting the Minneapolis Institute of Art, shopping in the Mall of America (“Forever 21” - will dearly miss all our students), exploring the Minneapolis Zoo and so much more.
