It is with immense pride that we celebrate our 50th anniversary this year. The Department of Nursing Science is certainly embracing all the festivities that accompany this noteworthy occasion throughout 2025.
Our golden anniversary offers the opportunity to reflect on the past five decades and the numerous students, staff, leaders, mentors and graduates who have made our department what it is today. We have experienced various changes at our institution over the last 50 years, but the ethos of the Department of Nursing Science has remained constant since its inception in 1975.
This significant milestone reminds us that we strive for excellence in education, theory, research and clinical practice. We are excited about what the future of the field of nursing holds, not only in South Africa, but also beyond our borders. As we look ahead, we hope to maintain our core values and high standards and fly the flag of the Department of Nursing Science high both in and out the classroom. We are grateful for where we started and for how far we have come. Here's to the next 50 years of excellent nursing scholarship - as we inform, innovate and inspire the current and future generations of nurses.
