Her work integrates theory, simulation, indigenous birthing practices, and reflection, nurturing compassionate and competent future nurses.

As a graduate of the three-year Early Career Academic Advancement Programme (ECAAP), Ayabonga embraces a servant-leadership mindset and advocates for student-centred, African-informed pedagogy. She currently chairs the Student Administrative Matters (SAM) Committee in her department.

Her master’s research focuses on assessing the awareness and acceptability of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) among female undergraduate nursing students in South Africa, an important step toward reducing HIV infections in high-risk groups through education and advocacy.
