The student is requirement to complete a total of 750 clinical hours.
Admission Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Midwifery (NQF Level 8); OR
-
An Honours Degree in Nursing (NQF Level 8); OR
-
A Diploma in Nursing (NQF Level 6) with an Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (NQF Level 7); OR
-
An equivalent diploma or degree in Nursing at NQF Level 7.

A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in midwifery (within the last five years) post-registration as a professional or general nurse and midwife. This excludes the community service year.

General nurses must have a basic midwifery qualification to access the programme.

A current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) from the South African Nursing Council (SANC)

Proof of current indemnity insurance for practice

An updated curriculum vitae (CV)

A letter of institutional consent/support from the employer

A certified copy of the identity document

A certified copy of the matriculation certificate

A certified copy of the academic transcript of the basic nursing and midwifery qualification

If transferring from another nursing education institution, all documentation required by SANC for the transfer must be submitted with the application.
Additional Requirements

SANC student registration fees are payable upon acceptance into the programme.

Proof of current indemnity insurance for clinical placements is compulsory.
