
Dr David Morton is a research coordinator and senior lecturer with a Doctorate in Sociology and a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. He has been based in the Department of Nursing Science at Nelson Mandela University since 2011. He was recently awarded a C3 status by the National Research Foundation (NRF). His research interests are well-being and job satisfaction in health care settings, with a particular interest in family caregivers and community health workers.
He recently received a research grant from DSI-NRF (WITS) for a 2024 study concerning community health workers, family caregivers and relatives with dementia. He has supervised nursing, radiography, sociology, health & welfare, EMC and industrial psychology postgraduate students. He has successfully supervised 17 Master’s studies and one PhD to graduation. He is currently supervising and co-supervising two Master's and seven Doctoral students. His teaching focus area is research methodology and epidemiology.
