
Dr Marian Nyarko is a post-doctoral fellow at the NMU Department of Nursing Science and has worked in healthcare services since 1985. Her niche and research interest areas are in evidence-based practice, particularly relating to nutrition in the First 1000 Days of Life”. She has done research using both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies but prefers qualitative design and methods. A recently acquired passion is conducting various forms of literature reviews.
Dr Nyarko has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) as well as Masters in Public Health (MPH). She has a great love for capacitating colleagues and while working for the Eastern Cape Department of Health (ECDoH), she frequently encouraged many of her colleagues to further their studies.
Currently she has a National Research Foundation (NRF) grant to develop a “Comprehensive, Multi-Disciplinary Programme Addressing Malnutrition within The First 1000 Days of Life in Nelson Mandela Bay And Sarah Baartman Health Districts” by February 2027.
