Dr. Mariana Scheepers is the Clinical Education Manager at Life Healthcare in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa, bringing over 18 years of experience in academia across both university and private healthcare environments. She currently leads initiatives in continuous professional development and risk-based training for qualified nurses, ensuring clinical excellence and regulatory compliance throughout the Life Healthcare network.

She has served for more than five years on the Human Research and Ethics Committee, contributing to the ethical oversight of clinical and academic research. Prior to her current role, she was a lecturer at the University of Johannesburg, where she lectured neonatology, neonatal care, and research methodology to both basic and post-basic nursing students. She holds a PhD in Nursing, with a specialization in Neonatology and competency development for nurses working in neonatal care, achieved through consensus-based research. Her master’s degree focused on the early identification of high-risk newborns immediately after birth.

 

Dr. Scheepers has contributed to the review and refinement of the Integrated Neonatal Guidelines in South Africa. She is also frequently consulted for medico-legal reports involving misconduct, negligence, and quantum estimation in neonatal cases, contributing her clinical insight and academic rigor to support legal and ethical standards in healthcare.
