Mrs Karin Gerber

Mrs Karin Gerber is a lecturer at the Department of Nursing Science and has worked in academia for the past 13 years. Her research interest is in the area of nursing education with a specific focus on learning and teaching strategies and e-learning. She is also competent and has a keen interest in matters related to General nursing science, with specialisation in wound care and patient safety as well as Nursing management. Mrs Karin Gerber enjoys research supervision and is currently supervising 3 Master' candidates and multiple undergraduate projects. Her teaching focus area is General and Comprehensive Nursing Science and Nursing Management and Leadership, which she facilitates in the undergraduate programmes. She uses a student-centred, humanising approach to learning and teaching to encourage not only life-long learning but also a love for the nursing profession and its diversities and was awarded the “Faculty Emerging Excellent Teacher Award in 2019”. She has been involved in the curriculum development and design of the undergraduate programme since before joining academia and has assisted and advised on curriculum and assessment matters for under and graduate programmes in recent years.
