Ms Sindiswa Mnwana is a lecturer of the Department of Nursing Science and has worked in academia for the past 11 years. Her research interest is in the area of nursing education, with a specific focus on Quality assurance in nursing education; HIV/AIDS in higher education; School health with a preference for qualitative research.
Ms Mnwana enjoys postgraduate research supervision and is currently supervising four Masters and multiple undergraduate projects. Her teaching focus area is in comprehensive nursing science and nursing ethics which she facilitates in the undergraduate programmes. She uses a student-centred teaching approach which allows students to actively participate in their learning; develop self-directed learning skills and become critical thinkers who can solve real life problems. She has been involved in the curriculum development and design for the Bachelor of Nursing and the Postgraduate Nursing Programmes.
